Human hair dye prepn., contains in association with at least one classical oxidation base, at least one benzmorpholine deriv. of formula: (wherein X is S or O; R is OH or NH2 in pos. 5 or 7; R1 and R2 are H or lower alkyl or hydroxyalkyl; the alkyl or hydroxyalkyl; the benzene ring may also carry a lower alkyl substituent) or an (in)organic acid addition salt thereof, as colour coupler. Benzmorpholine cpds. wherein R is OH or NH2 in pos. 5 or 7 are new, and their prepn. is disclosed. - The dye prepns. are used in the usual way at pH 8-10 (obtd. by adding ammonia) and the application to the hair is effected in the presence of an oxidising soln. pref. H2O2 soln. The hair is then rinsed, shampooed and set and dried.
