The device to slit and collar packaging straps has two arms with opposing movement wrt. each other. One arm carries the cutting plate and the other carries the knife. The knife has a longitudinal slot (5) in which a plate (6) with cutting teeth (10) is located. The edge of the plate which carries the teeth is designed as a sharp cutting edge. The cutting teeth have reduced section tips.
