The device comprises means (16) for recording a series of measured values of a given quantity and of a further, given reference quantity as a function of time, means for determining a specific model enabling the quantity to be estimated and forecast on the basis of a general model which generates a curve, and means for displaying and visualizing said curve. The general model has at least two constant parameters of which one acts on the shape of the curve and the other on the level thereof. The device further comprises means (18, 20) for varying the value of the first constant parameter, means for making a corresponding curve correspond to each value of said first constant parameter, means for setting the first constant parameter at a selected value, means (18, 20) for varying the value of the second constant parameter, means for making a corresponding curve correspond to each value of the second constant parameter, and means for setting the second constant parameter at a selected value.
