<p>An improved sensor system for a printer (10) having a print carriage (16) comprising an ink source (48), a print head (28), and a coupler for coupling the ink source to the print head (28), the coupler including a tube (32) for carrying the ink and sensors (34, 46) for detecting voids in the ink (82) carried by the tubes (32) and positioned in close proximity to the ink source (48) and the print head (28). A controller (12) is coupled to the sensors (34, 46) and responsive to signals output therefrom to stop the print carriage (16) when voids are simultaneously detected by the sensors (34, 46).</p> |
