Telescopic shaft for cutting or clamping tools

The telescopic shaft has a tubular section which has a forward tube (3) on whose front end is attached a cutting or clamping tool (1). A rear tube (5) contains an operating mechanism for the cutting or clamping tool. The two tube sections act telescopically with each other and are designed so as to prevent rotational movement. The tubes have slots (7,17) running longitudinally in them in which a toothed bar (8,18) is securely located. A ratchet element (9,19) is provided in the tubes which engages with the toothed bar so that the rods can be adjusted and fixed in the required position.
