A catalyst system comprising a transition metal compound (A) having at least one of a cyclopentadienyl group or a substituted cyclopentadienyl group and at least one of a cyclic ligand containing a hetero atom and having a delocalised pi bond, and an organoaluminum compound (B), or (A), (B) and a compound (C) forming an ionic complex by reacting with a transition metal compound; and a process for preparing an olefin polymer using said catalyst system.
