A pharmaceutical composition for treatment and prophylaxis of atherosclerosis comprising antigenic and immunogenic heavy microemulsion lipid particles. These particles are obtained by, firstly, isolating LDL, VLDL, beta -VLDL or IDL from the blood of a mammal or human subject; and, secondly, by reorganizing the structure of the lipid particles or droplets through an in-vitro fusion of said lipoprotein material to obtain heavy microemulsion lipid particles, having a floatation density of 1.17 to 1.24 mg/ml and being ptentially antigenic and immunogenic in mammals or humans. <IMAGE> |
