Fabric and mounting frame for painting

The backing for a painting consists of the non-woven polyester fibre with an acrylic coating weighing 45-50 g per square metre on the front and 35-50 g per square metre on the back. The acrylic can contain white pigment on which the artist paints with oils. Alternatively, a thin photographic reproduction can be affixed so that the texture of the fibre shows through. The backing will not distort so the frame need not include provision for adjustment. The mitred joints (6) can be glued together or stapled (7). Similarly, the 'canvas' can be stapled (3) to the frame.
