PURPOSE: To prevent exhaust gas flow from disturbing the straight advance of combus tion flame by providing regenerative change-over combustion type high efficient side burners in a preheating zone, etc., on the downstream side of the exhaust gas flow in a continuous heating apparatus for heating a material to be heated with the combus tion flame while shifting the material. CONSTITUTION: Partition walls 5 as the boundary between the side burner setting area and the upstream side of the exhaust gas flow are arranged at the upper part and/or the lower part of a passing line surface of the material to be heated. In the continuous heating apparatus, when inclination surfaces 12 inclined at an angle of 8 deg. to the passing line surface while diverging upward and downward respectively toward the downstream side of the exhaust gas starting from the end surface of the partition wall 5 are supposed, burner holes of the side burners 6, 7, 8 are arranged between the supposed inclination surfaces 12 and a roof wall 2 or a furnace hearth 4. By this constitution, the uniform heating of the material to be heated in the width direction of the furnace, the improvement of thermal efficiency and the compactness of furnace vol. can be attained, and the high efficient continuous heating apparatus having both characteristics of the regenerative change-over combustion type burner and the ordinary type burner can be obtained. |
