PURPOSE: To reduce torque required for driving a photoreceptor and to miniaturize the driving system of the photoreceptor by forming an image being shorter in a sheet material carrying direction than an output image on an image carrier and transferring it while extending it when it is transferred on a sheet material. CONSTITUTION: When the toner image having some prescribed length L in the carrying direction of the sheet material 8 is formed on the output image (a), the toner image reduced by 1/k (k<1) in the sheet material carrying direction is formed on the photoreceptor 1 first (b). The image on the photoreceptor 1 is not reduced in a direction orthogonally crossing the sheet material carrying direction and it is formed by the same size as the output image. By setting the moving speed of the material 8 at a transfer part to be k×v being (k) times as high as the moving speed (v) of the surface of the photoreceptor 1 in the sheet material carrying direction, the toner image is transferred on the material 8 while being extended (c). By setting the driving speed of the image carrier lower than the driving speed of the material 8, the load of the driving system of the image carrier is reduced.
