PURPOSE: To provide a treating agent of a harmful material and the treating method capable of surely preventing the diffusion of the harmful material at a low cost. CONSTITUTION: The treating agent consists essentially or quickline and prepared by mixing sodium silicate, silica and magnesium oxide therewith, which are powdery respectively. The powder of quicklime is coated with a fat and oil such as paraffin or an animal fat and oil. The treating agent and an industrial waste are thrown into a mixer, stirred and is allowed to stand for 2hr after water equivalent to 40% (weight ratio) of the industrial waste is added. As a result, a porous calcium silicate gel is produced and the harmful material contained in the industrial waste is adsorbed and taken into the calcium silicate gel. Since the calcium silicate is inactive and stable except in a strong acid or strong alkali, the harmful material is never eluted therefrom. |
