PURPOSE: To provide a packaging structure which is stable in optical characteristics even under an inferior condition of a high temp. and is hardly deteriorated in the characteristics by hermetically fixing the exposed parts of the clads at the front ends of optical fibers within a mounting means by a rigid material. CONSTITUTION: The exposed parts of the clads at the front ends of the optical fibers from which protective coatings are partly stripped are first passed into protective caps 3 and the rigid material 1, such as solder or solder glass, is packed and fixed into the holes thereof. An adhesive or sealant 12 having elasticity is packed therein from outside. The exposed parts are thereafter fixed through fixing caps 4 and similarly, the elastic materials 1 are packed from the fiber insertion holes. The protective caps 3 and an external case 2 are mounted and are similarly fixed by the rigid material 1. The fiber type optical parts having the packaging structure completely shut off from the outdoor air are embodied by the structure produced by such method. The strength of the external case 2 is provided with a thickness, by which the case having the strength to withstand external pressures is obtained and these optical parts are usable even under a pressure condition. |
