[Also in Division C2] In a mixer Fig. 1 for use in the preparation of organic isocyanates under conditions of high shear (see Division C2) a solution of phosgene and isocyanate is pumped into inlet 2, a solution of amine is pumped into inlet 3 and the reaction mixture leaves by outlet 12. In a further mixer (Fig. III, not shown), a solution of phosgene and isocyanate is pumped. into inlet (17), a solution of amine is pumped into inlet (18), the impeller (20) is rotated and the reaction mixture leaves by outlet (19). Preferably there is only sufficient liquid to provide a small roll ahead of each impeller blade tip (21). |
