PURPOSE: To provide an optical transmitter which can address a transmission destination on a transmission-side with low power consumption. CONSTITUTION: LD 1, a bias control circuit 18 varying a bias state by a control signal from outside, an LD driving circuit 19, a channel selection circuit 20 and a bias channel selection circuit 12 are provided. The bias control circuit 18 and the LD driving circuit 19 are made into a single end-type circuit consisting of a current source 17 and a transistor 16, and current does not flow to LD in a non-selection state. The channel selection circuit 20 and the bias channel selection circuit 12 are constituted by a selection circuit where AND gates are connected in a binary tree form. A data signal and an address signal are inputted to the channel selection circuit 20, and the address signal and a bias flag controlling the operation state of the optical transmitter are inputted to the bias channel selection circuit 12. Thus, the addressing and the data transmission of an LD array are controlled. |
