PURPOSE: To provide a crossconversion system of the light emission control signals RGB of the light source colors displayed on a color display screen and the object colors expressed by tristimulus values XYZ in arbitrary observation environment and only by the color matching experiment (adjustment) with respect to lightness. CONSTITUTION: This crossconversion system consists of a luminance-to-lightness converting means for converting luminance Y to lightness L, a lightness converting means for converting the lightness L to new lightness L' by linear conversion and a lightness-to-luminance converting means for converting the lightness L' to the luminance Y'. The system includes a means for calculating the light emission control signals of the color display with calculates the light emission control signals RGB of the color display from the tristimulus values XYZ and a means for calculating the tristimulus values which calculates the tristimulus values XYZ from the light emission control signals RGB of the color display. A color reflection original and the color original displayed on the color display are visually observed and the conversion coefftsα,βin the lightness converting means are determined so that both colors in view coincide with each other.
