PURPOSE: To provide a K edge filter and X-ray apparatus capable of sufficiently distinctly separating a low-energy region and a high-energy region and exactly measuring the energy of the low-energy region. CONSTITUTION: The X-ray energy from an X-ray source 1 is separated by a CsIK edge filter 2 and the X-rays transmitted through a material existing between the source and the CsIK edge filter 2 are measured by a CdTe semiconductor detector 3. An optical fiber 4 is connected to the CsIK edge filter 2 and the light is detected by an Si optical sensor 5. The X-ray source 1 is controlled by a control section 6. As a result, the sure sepn. of the X-rays to the high energy and the low energy near the sepn. boundary is made possible. The influence of beam hardening on the separated low energy side is lessened.
