PURPOSE: To improve the safety by automatically projecting the picture of a side monitor camera on a display device to show it to the driver at the time of coming to a blind intersection registered in a car navigation system. CONSTITUTION: At the time or normal running, map information including the running position of the vehicle detected by a vehicle position detector 21 is displayed on the display device at the driver's seat. When arrival at a preliminarily registered monitor position is detected by the vehicle position detector 21, an image pickup device 11 installed in the front end part of the vehicle is started by a display switching controller 25 to take in front right and left side monitor pictures of the vehicle, and these monitor pictures are forcibly switched from the map information and are displayed on the display device. Thus, front right and left side monitor pictures of the vehicle are automatically displayed on the display device without driver's switching operation at the time of coming to the intersection especially requiring the attention, and the convenience for use is improved to improve the safety of driving. |
