PURPOSE: To provide a method for joining a hot rolled slab capable of making a joining device for the slab small in size and simple in structure, and tack- welding slabs at a high speed. CONSTITUTION: In this method for joining both slabs 1 and 3 by butting the rear end face of a preceding slab 1 and the front end face of a succeeding slab 3, tack-welding a butted part 5 with laser along the butted part 5, and succeedingly pressure-welding the slabs subjected to the tack welding, the hot rolled slabs are laser-welded by converging laser beams to a groove part in oblong so as to transverse a weld seam. |
