PURPOSE: To increase the washing effect of a heat storage medium and permit efficient heat recovery by a method wherein a heating burner to be actuated during the operation suspension and the like to heat a boiler is provided to store heat while introducing the exhaust gas of the heating burner into one of a plurality of heat storage bodies while the heat storage medium of the other heat storage body is washed by a washing device. CONSTITUTION: When a heating burner 21 is started during posing and the like, exhaust gas is introduced into one of first and second heat storage bodies 32A, 32B to heat a heat storage medium while combustion air is preheated by the other heat storage medium to supply it to the burner 21. In this case, heat storage medium of second heat storage bodies 32C, 32D of heat non-storage side is sent to a washing device 68 from a medium receiving chamber by a medium discharging device through a medium discharging passage to effect washing, removing contaminated substances by friction between mediums each other. After washing, the medium is returned into the receiving chamber through a medium circulating and transferring device 61. On the other hand, the first heat storage bodies 32A, 32B are switched to second heat storage bodies 32C, 32D and the medium of the first heat storage bodies 32A, 32B is washed after a predetermined period of time has elapsed. |
