PURPOSE: To suppress the corrosion of a positive board lattice and improve the life of the above battery, by adopting a specified charging method in float charging, intermittent float charging where trickle charging and charging suspension are performed alternately, or intermittent trickle charging. CONSTITUTION: The charging is performed with two stages of a constant voltage, and the charging on the first step is performed with a specified voltage within the range of 2.35V-2.45V/cell, and it is made to the point of time when the voltage after start of charging has reached the specified voltage, and besides the current at start of charging is made the value over the tolerable overcharging current. Next, the charging of the second stage is performed with the voltage within the range of 2.2V-2.3V/cell, and the time of charge on the second stage is set, according to the time required for the charging of the first stage, and besides the charging suspension time after finish of the charging of the second stage is set to fifteen days to thirteen days. Or, the suspension time is set as large as ten to twenty times as many as the sum of the charging time of the first stage and the charging time of the second stage. |
