<p>PURPOSE: To provide the card which can detect whether its past use ends normally or abnormally and is easily repaired in case of the abnormal end by using a nonvolatile memory for a work memory area and erasing the contents of the nonvolatile memory at the end of normal use. CONSTITUTION: The memory 2 of the IC card consists of the work memory area 23, an EEPROM area 22, and a ROM area 21, and the work memory area 23 consists of a nonvolatile rewritable memory such as FRAM. At the end of each of various processings, the processing is not ended as it is and a card closed command as an instruction for cleaning all information in the work memory area 23 is sent to the IC card as the setting of normal end information to erase the information. Consequently, a reader write device side can detect whether the last use of the IC card which begins to be used ends normally or abnormally by checking ATR having a flag where hold information showing whether or not data are present as an initial response.</p> |
