<p>PURPOSE: To drastically shorten the boot time without necessity of scanning the whole of recording media housed in a magazine of an auto-changer immediately after turning a power source on or resetting at the time of recording/ reproducing information at the time of using the auto-changer by a command of a host computer. CONSTITUTION: The auto-changer 1 is equipped with a magazine 2 where a required number of recording media are housed in their respective slots and a carrier means 4 equipped with a driving device 3 for accessing any of the recording media. The carrier means 4 is arranged to move along guide rails 5. Then, a control system 6 for the driving device 3 and the carrier means 4 is operated by a command from the host computer 7. For example, the recording medium housed in the 1st slot is regarded as a specified recording medium, and file information of the recording media in the individual slots is stored on this specified recording medium, and at the time of updating the individual recording media, information capable of judging this updated state is recorded and is always rewritten.</p> |
