发明名称 REFLECTION TYPE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT AND ITS PRODUCTION
摘要 PURPOSE: To provide a new reflection type liquid crystal display element which can be increased in total reflection rate by providing a white reflecting layer on the internal surface of one substrate except pixel electrodes on one substrate. CONSTITUTION: The upper substrate 11 on an observation side has striped transparent electrodes 13 on its internal surface, and the lower substrate 12 as the opposite substrate has pixel electrodes 14 arrayed on its surface; and the white reflecting layer 20 is provided between those pixel electrodes 14 and MIM switching elements 18 and wires 22 are formed on the layer 20. The surfaces of the wires on the observation substrate side are made white. The electrode area is an area where the liquid crystal reacts to an impressed voltage to modulate a light reflection quantity, and constitutes a modulation part A. A nonmodulation part B as other areas wherein the light reflection quantity can not be controlled is an area that a space part as a gap between electrodes and the wire part 22 operating the pixel electrode 14 occupy. The white reflecting layer 20 is provided between pixel electrodes 14 on the internal surface of the lower substrate at the nonmodulation part B. Reflection which is always high irrelevantly to the state of the modulation part can be obtained by the white reflecting layer 20 which is extremely high in reflection rate.
