To ensure adequate independent distribution of lubricant to the crank-pin 14 and upper bearing surface 18 of a vertically mounted refrigerator motor compressor crank-shaft 1 having upper and lower bearing surfaces 18, 15, a lubricant cavity 21, formed in the lower end of the crank-shaft, centrifugally feeds lubricant up through separate passages 24 and 25 which open at their upper end into a cavity 20 from which a duct 28 feeds the upper bearing surface 18, a duct 26 formed intermediate the length of the passage 24 directly feeding the crank bearing surface 14. The lower bearing surface 15 is fed direct from the lubricant cavity 21 via a duct 22. The outlet ducts 22, 26 and 28 open into the upper part of their associated bearing surfaces which are provided with helical grooves 23, 27 &c. which pass the lubricant downwards, across the bearing surfaces. |
