<p>PURPOSE: To provide variable-speed reproduction tracking without using any control signal and to accelerate access by providing a tracking control means for performing the tracking control of a rotary magnetic head. CONSTITUTION: A tracking control means 19 is composed of a track number error detecting means 20, tracking error detecting means 21, switching means 22 and phase control means 23. Concerning this device, the speed of a magnetic tape 3 is accelerated to a prescribed value by a high-speed running control means 9 in the case of a variable-rate reproducing operation at any arbitrary speed higher than ordinary reproducing rate and afterwards, the pull-in setting of rotary magnetic heads 2a and 2b to a desired scanning track phase is controlled based on the error signal of the track number error detecting means 20. After the scanning phase reaches inside the prescribed range of the desired phase, while controlling the switching means 22, the tracking of the magnetic heads 2a and 2b is performed based on the error signal of the tracking error detecting means 21.</p> |
