DISTRIBUTED TEXT EDITION SYSTEM

摘要

PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of data transfer and the processing efficiency of a terminal computer in a system for transferring text data from a host computer to the terminal computer and allowing the terminal computer to edit the text data. CONSTITUTION: A host side editing means 41 in the host computer 4 deletes invalid brank data from a fixed length record in an original to convert the fixed length record into a variable length record constituted of record identification(ID) information and text information arrayed in order and transmits the variable length record to a terminal computer 6. A terminal side editing means 62 in the computer 6 temporarily stores the received variable length record in a terminal side storage means 63, restores the received record to the original fixed length record, stores the restored record in a picture displaying storage means 64, and displays the record on a display device 8. When the text information is changed by edition, the means 63 i.s retrieved based upon the record ID information and its corresponding variable length record is changed.
