TRIMMING METHOD OF RESISTOR

PURPOSE: To obtain the excellent surge strength of a resistor and form slits in the resistor at a high speed and securely by a method wherein the slits in the resistor are formed by trimming from the position very close to an electrode. CONSTITUTION: A resistor 11 is trimmed from the neighborhood position A of the one side electrode 12a of the resistor 11 in a direction parallel with the one side electrode 12a and in a width direction to form a first slit 141. The resistor 11 is then trimmed from an intermediate point of the width direction in a direction perpendicular to the first slit 141 and in an axial direction to a position close to the other side electrode 12b to form a second slit 142 continuously with the first slit 141. Then, the resistor 11 is trimmed from a position A' which is shifted from the position of the first slit 141 by a small distance toward the electrode 12b in the width direction and in the axial direction to form third and fourth slits 143, 144 into an approximate L-shape like the first and second slits 141 and 142.
