PURPOSE: To provide the portable telephone which saves the trouble of searching to smoothly perform the rescue activity and avoids a serious disaster by using the portable telephone to continuously transmit an emergency rescue demand signal at intervals of a certain time at any time wherever a user is in the case of various disasters which occur with a rare possibility and reporting the place where he is to peripheral persons. CONSTITUTION: An emergency state detection part 2 detects the emergency state by input of a preliminarily determined prescribed command and outputs it as an emergency state report signal A. A service area detection part 3 detects whether the place, where the user exists at present, is in the service area of the portable telephone or not. Contents to be transmitted for emergency are preliminarily stored as a memory signal in a memory part 4. A control part 5 receives the emergency state report signal A; and as long as the service area detection part 3 detects that it is on the outside of the service area, the control part 5 takes the memory signal stored in the memory part 4 as the input and indicates transmission of the emergency rescue demand signal. A radio part 6 transmits an emergency rescue demand signal D when a transmission indication signal C from the control part 5 is inputted.
