PURPOSE: To obtain a high quality image without density unevenness, surface fogging, character fining, etc., over a long period by obtaining an excellent coefficient of friction and sufficient triboelectrification with the fuzzy ruggedness of a developing roller. CONSTITUTION: A developer is carried on the surface of the developing roller 1 constituted in such a manner that a conductive layer 3 is formed on the outer periphery of a good conductive shaft 2 and a thin layer of the developer is formed. Then, the developing roller 1 is brought into contact with or proximate to a drum-like latent image carrier 5 holding an electrostatic latent image on the surface and the latent image carrier 5 and the developing roller 1 are rotated to supply the developer to the surface of the carrier 5 and make an electrostatic visible image on the surface of the carrier 5 visualizable. At this time, as the developing roller 1, one having small fuzzy ruggedness 10 which are inclined in a peripheral direction on the surface is used and the inclined direction of the ruggedness 10 of the developing roller 1 is reversed to a rotational direction. |
