PURPOSE: To reduce the number of part items of a circuit so as to reduce the cost by using a resistor for an oscillation starting circuit of a switching element in common and for a discharging circuit of a smoothing capacitor. CONSTITUTION: In a discharge lamp lighting device, which includes voltage doubler rectifier smoothing circuits 2-5 and two-transistor self-excitation half bridge type invertors 9, 10, a resistor 6 forming an oscillation starting circuit of a switching element of the invertors 9, 10 is in common for a smoothing capacitor 4 of the voltage doubler rectifier smoothing circuits 2-5. |
