A new anti-freeze compsn. comprises a water-sol. liq. alcohol to lower the freezing pt. combined with a corrosion protection system. The latter is made up of: (a) at least one carboxylic acid or an alkali metal, ammonium or amine salt of the acid; (b) at least one 1,3-diazole chosen from imidazole, benzimidazole, imidazoline or their hydrocarbon derivs.; (c) at least one imide.
