Automated production of cakes and biscuits with stenciled decorations

Cakes and biscuits are produced and decorated continuously by depositing shapes of uncooked mixture or dough onto a strip of non-stick paper (3) as it is unrolled from a bobbin (3a). Decorative mixture is deposited first onto the strip, in the desired shape, then the main mixture deposited on top of it before baking. The shape of the decoration is determined by the shape of holes (23) in a large metal hoop (22) supported on a fixed chassis (20) above the non-stick paper (3). Coloured decorative mixture is held in a hopper (29) inside the hoop and dispensed via an opening (40) in a cross plate (42) with a flat lower face (43). Pressure is applied from below by a second flat face (44) and the shape and thickness of decoration produced dictated by the shape of the perforations and thickness of the hoop.
