The invention relates to cell-free receptor binding tests which permit investigation of the binding characteristics of receptor proteins which are located in the cell membrane towards natural or synthetic ligands. These entail the particular receptor being linked to a suitable carrier molecule, preferably the heavy chain of an immunoglobulin, and being bound to a suitable solid phase via the carrier while retaining its biological properties.
