A surgical gown (10) is adapted to be operatively disposed to substantially cover a surgeon (12) wearing a ventilator (23) having a waist mounted power unit (25), a head mounted manifold structure (27) and at least one tube (32) extending therebetween. The gown (10) includes a head section (41), a waist section (47), and a shoulder section (43) appropriately configured to cover analogous portions of the surgeon's body (14/16, 18, 21). A ventilator section (83), disposed between the head section (41) and the waist section (47) when the gown (10) is operatively disposed on the surgeon (12), defines a tube channel (84) to receive the tube (32) of the ventilator. This ventilator section (83) forms an enlargement which facilitates movement of the head (14) of the surgeon without substantial restriction by the head section (41) of the gown (10). An interior tie (81) gathers a front section (56) of the gown around the neck (16) of the surgeon to isolate movement between the head section (41) and the shoulder section (43).
