The sensor has a magnet (2) and two Hall effect elements (3,4) between which moves a component made of magnetic material having an irregular periphery or one with points of discontinuity. On it side (5) facing the elements, the magnet is provided with a central recess (7). The recess can be convex, it can be circular or rectangular in shape and both sides of the magnet can be recessed.
