A control lever (2) and hub (4) should be positively engaged without friction during the chain switch-over routine, using a rotation-symmetric clamping element. The lever is circularly recessed over its inner radius and two compression springs (6) round the pivot point within the housing (7) are separated by a web piece. The controller (1) used to actuate the clamp is rotatably carried within an open circular opening in the sprung cam (8) forming part of the control lever (2). The centre part of the controller is sufficiently narrow to become flexible and the controller (1) is narrower than the web between the two springs through the cam (8) is itself thinner than the widest part of the narrow area of the controller (1). The narrow controller part between the springs (6) lies within the inside radius of these (6). The widest part of the controller (1) and cam (8) disc exceed the diameter of the clamping element. The switching lever (2) is made of 0.2%C steel within the circular opening specified, this opening being thermally cut for preference.
