In order to rationalize and render more profitable the use of tyre bead fitting machines in order to finish units which are assembled and ready for delivery, the machine according to the invention comprises one upper and one lower plate (10), each provided with at least two cylindrical hoops (4) which have different diameters and can be moved axially and independently. The machine further comprises means (3, 5, 7, 11, 12, 13) which, depending on the size of the tyre of the assembled unit E to be processed, enable suitable hoops (4', 4") to be selected and the axial distance between hoops to be adjusted as necessary, in order to compress the tyre walls to the desired degree when the hoops have been applied to the walls of the tyre of the unit E.
