The machine has an emergency cut off device which switches off the motor driving the circular blade (2). An arm (6) to restrain the product to be sliced comprises a safety shield (6a) and a pressure plate which are parallel to one another and can swivel independently of one another w.r.t. the sliding feeder tray (5). The cut off device prevents the motor from being turned on when the parts of the restraint arm are out of position away from cutting site. A safety device comprising two linked blade protection plates (8,9), one to cover each side of the blade, switch off the motor for blade cleaning and protect the operator during use.
