A pantograph pick-up system for an electric rail vehicle includes a base assembly (6) mounted on the roof of the vehicle, a link assembly (1) pivotally connected to the base assembly (6), and a collector assembly (5). The link assembly (1) is acted on by a pneumatic piston and cylinder assembly (10) to urge the collector assembly (5) into engagement with an overhead wire. The collector assembly (5) is arranged for pivotal movement relative to an upper arm (2) of the link assembly (1). Such pivotal movement is sensed by a valve (13) having an operating member which is rotatable in either of two directions from an inoperative position to effect either an increase or a decrease in the pressure supplied to the pneumatic piston and cylinder mechanism (10) by means of control box (12). |
