A super-absorbent compsn. used for hygiene articles, such as nappies, or incontinence pads, which does not develop unpleasant odours, contains (a) a super-absorbent polymer resulting from the polymerisation with partial crosslinking of water-soluble unsatd. ethylenic monomers, esp. acrylic and methacrylic acids and their alkaline salts; and (b) sodium tetraborate or sodium metaborate; in the proportion of 0.1-10% boron deriv.
