<p>The system for illuminating a screen, esp. a liquid crystal display screen, comprises a light integrator (RL1,RL2,C1) receiving a light beam from a source (S) and providing a beam to illuminate the screen (LC). The light integrator is based on a system of lenses, but does not include lenses in the low energy part of the beam, thus enabling production of uniform illumination on the screen itself. Light from the source reaches a first assembly of lenses (RL1) which each focus light on to a point on to a further surface. At this there is a second assembly of lenses (RL2) which directs the light forward. Sections of the beam of least energy are distributed over several lenses within the assembly.</p> |
