Exhaust gas recirculation control valve

The valve is operated by an electromagnet (5) which opens it against the opposition of a closure spring (6) to connect the exhaust pipe to the air intake system. The valve rod (7) protrudes through the air duct (3) from a section (9) within a guide (8) whose cross-sectional area (10) corresponds to that of the seating (11). The other end of the guide opens into a chamber (13) vented to atmosphere. Forces on the valve during a surge in the intake system are compensated by the counter-pressure on the protruding section of the rod.
