An imaging device for scanning an original document, comprising: scanning means movably disposed within said imaging device, said scanning means being adapted to scan the original document; a plurality of lamps (68) mounted in said scanning means, each of said lamps being adapted to sequentially emit pulse of light to illuminate portions of the original document; and detecting means (76) mounted on said scanning means, said detecting means mounted relative to said lamps such that said detecting means are adapted to detect and record light from the original document.
