Ag halide photographic element comprises a support bearing a light sensitive Ag halide emulsion layer and a cyclic azole magenta coupler associated with a dye stabiliser consisting of a combination of cpds. of formula (S) and formula (I), where R3 = aryl or heterocycle; Z1 and Z2 = 1-3 C alkylene, provided the total no. of C atoms in the ring is 3-6; n = 1 or 2; Y = -NHSO2-, or -SO2NH-; R10 = H, alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl, acyl or acylamino; R11 = alkyl, aryl or cycloalkyl; w = 0-4; R12 = alkyl, aryl or cycloalkyl; Q = alkyl, aryl alkoxy, amino, alkylamino or anilino. Pref. the stabiliser combination further comprises cpd. of formula (R) (where R1 = H, alkyl or cycloalkyl of 1-8 C; R2 = H, OH, alkyl or alkoxy of 1-8 C; m = 0 to 2; and A = 1-10 C alkylene). Pref. (S), (I) and (R) are all used at 0.2-2.0 (most pref. 0.5-1.0 moles/mole) of magenta coupler. Phthalate ester coupler solvent is used. The support is opaque.
