PURPOSE: To provide a material to be recorded for ink jet recording (back printing type material to be recorded) characterized by that a full color highly detailed image printed on the side of an ink absorbing layer is confirmed even when the image is observed on the side of a transparent support using either one of transmitted light and reflected light and the image generates no blur or fading even when printed matter is placed under a high humidity condition or immersed in water. CONSTITUTION: In a material to be recorded for ink jet recording wherein a porous ink absorbing layer is provided on a transparent support, the ink absorbing layer is formed from at least a polymer having a quaternary ammonium base and pigment particles with a refractive index of 1.7 or less.
