PURPOSE: To produce a catalyst body which is provided with improved waste gas purifying function immediate after an appliance starts working and in the appearance of which stains are hardly visible even after a long time use as a waste gas purifying catalyst for appliances, e.g. electric roasters and gas ranges. CONSTITUTION: A blackened carrier is obtained by molding a mixture consisting of mainly heat resistant aggregate and calcium aluminate and containing 13-20wt.% of Zn-Mn ferrite as a black pigment, 4-12wt.% of Kibushi clay as a reinforcing material, and 2-10wt.% of ultrafine silica particle (average particle size of primary particles is 0.5μm or smaller) into a honeycomb shape. After a catalyst is carried on the carrier, the resultant carrier is immersed in hot water to dissolve the calcium aluminate not reacted in the catalyst. |
