PURPOSE: To detect shift-down from an OD(overdrive) condition to a D condition in a transmission by determining whether a quantity of change in vehicle speed and/or a quantity of change in accelerating speed exceed/exceeds the predetermined detection level or not so as to prevent generation of OD hunting without any wiring serving as a transmitting means. CONSTITUTION: When it is determined whether an OD cut flag is set or not, an opening for an actuator opening/closing a throttle valve is quickly closed by means of a cruise controlling computer (step 12) if it is determined that the OD cut flag is set (step 11). When shift-down from an OD condition to a D condition (OD cut) is instructed to an engine.transmission controlling computer, the OD cut condition is maintained by means of the cruise controlling computer. On the other hand, return to a step 1 is carried out, if it is determined that the OD cut flag is not set (step 11). |
