PURPOSE: To improve the reliability in terms of theft prevention by referring to an ID code, turning the engine can be started according to the result from referencing, and rewriting the ID code into other ID code different from the present one. CONSTITUTION: When an engine key 10 is inserted into a key cylinder 14, a signal receiver 20 reads an ID code entered in an IC 12, and a CPU 34 compares a reference ID code stored in an EEPROM 32 with the ID code from the receiver 20. When the two ID codes are identical, the injector and ignition coil of the engine are operated. If the two ID codes are not identical, the engine is hindered from starting. When the engine is started, the CPU 34 rewrites the ID code of the IC 12 installed in the engine key 10 and the reference ID code stored in the EPPROM 32 into other ID codes. |
