PURPOSE: To obtain an olefin polymn. catalyst which gives an olefin (co)polymer excellent in particle properties while allowing only small amt. of fine polymer particles to occur during polymn. CONSTITUTION: The catalyst is a solid comprising a finely particulate carrier carrying a transition metal compd. of the group IVB contg. a ligand having a cyclopentadienyl backbone, an organoaluminumoxy compd., and an organoaluminum compd. and has a bulk density of 0.3g/cm<3> or higher and a flow index of 45 or higher. An olefin is polymerized in the presence of the catalyst.
