PURPOSE: To obtain a black color-based recording solution stably storable for a along period of time, giving deep printed image density and having excellent water resistance and light fastness by incorporating an aqueous medium and a specific azo-based coloring matter in the recording solution. CONSTITUTION: The objective recording solution includes (A) an aqueous medium such as water and ethylene glycol and (B) an azo-based coloring matter of formula I [X<1> is H, a (substituted) alkyl or formula II (R<1> and R<2> are each H, OH or sulfo, etc.), etc.; X<2> is formula III (R<9> and R<10> are each H, OH or sulfo, etc.), etc.]. To obtain the exemplified coloring matter, benzidine-3,3'- dicarboxylic acid and N-2'-methyl-5'-carboxyphenyl-γ-acid are used as starting materials and subjected to tetrazotizing, coupling and salting out processes. |
